EUROFER is surprised and disappointed by the misinformation being peddled by ORGALIME, the European Engineering Industries Association, and by its members. The unfounded accusation, that the steel industry is unjustly manipulating price levels in Europe, is designed to completely mislead.

In an open letter EUROFER urges the European Commission to protect the competitiveness of European steel industry and to provide a stable foreseeable policy framework when adopting the revision of the EU emissions trading system.

The steel industry is actively tackling climate change but to do more it requires the correct policy framework. We call upon the Member States and the European Parliament to address the shortcomings in this proposal over the coming months.
