REACH Cluster WG

• For discussion of common issues and, where necessary,
• For the development of a European steel industry consensus on REACH-related issues,
• To prevent duplication of work,
• To identify existing data, and
• Highlight research and studies for cost sharing and/or that could be exchanged at a later date

Mission:

• Gather existing human health and environmental data for iron (Fe, Fe2+, Fe3+)
• Identify data gaps
• Determine which data gaps need to be filled and initiate studies
• Hold and maintain data
• Prepare technical dossier for iron steel producer applications (Fe, Fe2+, Fe3+)
• Address common issues and agree common positions
• Identify substances for pre-registration dossiers
• Develop common pre-registration dossiers
• Avoid duplication of work
• Address common substance-related issues (e.g. alloys, articles, stainless steel slag, etc)
• Develop common interpretations where uncertainties exist in the REACH text to support the iron dossier for steel producer applications.
• Prepare for the SIEFs
