REACH Implementation WG
REACH Implementation WG provides an external ongoing forum:
- To act as a focal point for contact with external interests in iron and other steel- related consortia.
- For discussion of common issues with non-Eurofer interests in iron and steel and, where necessary, development of a global iron and steel industry consensus
- To prevent duplication of work on iron and other steel-related substances
- To identify existing data on iron and other steel-related substances, and
- Highlight research and studies for cost sharing and/or that could be bought/exchanged at a later date (postbox function).

IPIA's Iron Platform
The IRON PLATFORM is the iron and iron-containing substances (pig iron, DRI (Directly Reduced Iron), HBI (Hot Briquetted Iron), iron powder and iron oxide) REACH Consortium established by the International Pig Iron Association. Chris Barrington (IPIA's secretariat) and Sue Barrington, will act as administrators for the Iron platform.
While we are committed to active cooperation with the Iron Platform, the Eurofer Board has decided that, as our Clusters are well-established and tailored to the needs of European steel producers, Eurofer will not become member of the Iron Platform. Especially, as the REACH Implementation WG provides an existing and effective forum for the exchange of information.
