Integrated Steel & Iron Cluster
Task of the Cluster:
The designated task of the Integrated Steel and Iron Cluster is to facilitate its members to fulfil their individual obligations under REACH. The Cluster will provide a means by which its members may collectively address common issues of concern, reach consensus on such issues and, where appropriate, share data as well as undertake new REACH-related studies on shared cost basis.
In particular, it is envisaged that the Cluster will address the following:-
- Generic list of substances for pre-registration
- Identify key consortia for Integrated Steel substances and co-ordinate liaison
- Map the uses of carbon steel
- Participate in the development of IUCLID V dossiers for metallic iron and furnace iron as well as iron oxide
- Develop a position on articles, intermediates, scrap, etc
- Liaise with specific Eurofer WGs (e.g on status of scrap, etc)
- Identify uses of alloying elements to substance suppliers for inclusion in list of identified uses
- Provide downstream user exposure and use data to substance producers and/or their consortia
